Secure should still mean safe
A secure home should make unwanted entry harder while still allowing fast escape in an emergency and respecting privacy.
Key decisions
- Use locks that suit the household's fire escape needs.
- Consider thumb turns where appropriate, especially for easier exit.
- Do not block escape windows, doors or routes with furniture.
- Angle cameras toward your property, not neighbours' private spaces.
- Make sure children, guests and vulnerable people can get out safely.
