Diwali Lighting and Decoration Guide for the Home
Diwali decorations can make a home feel warm and welcoming without creating cable clutter or marking walls. Plan light placement, surfaces and fixings before you start.
Start with key display areas
Focus on windowsills, consoles, shelves, dining tables and entrance areas. Keep surfaces stable and leave room for everyday use.
Layer light safely
Use LED tealights, battery strings and lanterns to create depth. Keep cables tidy and do not run them under rugs or across doorways.
Protect surfaces
Use runners, trays or mats under decorations. This protects paint, timber, stone and worktops from scratches, wax marks and dye transfer.
Fix without damage
Use removable hooks, clear clips or ties for lightweight decorations. Avoid drilling unless the item is heavy enough to need a permanent fixing.
