How to Clean Windows for a Clear, Streak-Free Finish
Clean windows make rooms feel brighter, but streaks usually come from too much product, dirty cloths or working in the wrong order.
Safety note: Do not lean out of windows or work at height without suitable equipment. For upper floors, awkward access or exterior glass, use a professional window cleaner or proper reach equipment from ground level.
Gather the kit
A squeegee, microfiber cloths, bucket, mild cleaner and dry towel are enough for most indoor windows. Keep one cloth for washing and one for drying edges.
Clean the frame first
Wipe the frame, sill and corners before cleaning the glass. If you clean glass first, dirt from the frame can run back onto it.
Wash and squeegee
Use a lightly wet cloth or applicator, then pull the squeegee smoothly from top to bottom. Wipe the blade between passes and dry the edges with a clean cloth.
Deal with streaks
Streaks often mean too much product or residue left on the glass. Buff lightly with a dry microfiber cloth once the main water has been removed.
