- Sunflower seeds or seedlings

- Bamboo canes and soft ties
- Trowel and watering can
- Slug protection if needed
Method
- Sow seeds in pots or directly once the soil has warmed.
- Harden off indoor seedlings before planting outside.
- Choose a sunny, sheltered position.
- Add a cane early for tall varieties.
- Water during dry spells and tie stems loosely as they grow.
Common Mistakes
Planting out too early can check growth. Tying stems too tightly can damage them as they thicken.
