Appliances need more than a gap
Kitchen appliances need the right physical space, ventilation, water, waste, power and access for maintenance. Planning these early avoids expensive changes later.
Plan for
- Door swing and drawer clearance.
- Ventilation gaps around fridges, ovens and integrated appliances.
- Accessible isolation switches and sockets.
- Water and waste routes for washing machines and dishwashers.
- Manufacturer clearances around hobs and cookers.
Safety note
Gas appliances must be installed by a Gas Safe registered engineer. New circuits, cooker supplies and fixed electrical changes need a qualified electrician.
